Graduation of the UNFICYP 19 and EUFOR 18 Predeployment Courses

Last Friday, January 20, 2012, was carried out the ceremony for the conclusion of the pre-deployment courses for the personnel that will integrate the Chilean mission in Cyprus and Bosnia-Herzegovina, respectively.
The act was chaired by the Director of the Chilean Joint Peacekeeping Operations Centre (CECOPAC), Commander Marine Claudio Zanetti Muñoz, accompanied by the Navy Peacekeeping Operations Delegate, Commander Marine Jorge Budge Blanco and the Peacekeeping Operations Delegate from the Operations Directorate of the Joint General Staff, Colonel Luis Muñoz Ibáñez.
Once the ceremony started, the graduation diplomas were handed over, which certify the general and specific knowledge acquired by the students during the course, both in its theoretical and practical phases. Also, the personnel that obtained the best academic performance was awarded.
The CECOPAC award to the “Best Officer” of the UNFICYP 19 course went to the Sub-lieutenant Patricio Saldias Gunther and the “Best Noncommissioned Officer” award was granted to the First Corporal Marine Carlos González González.
At the same time, Captain John Whitney Barrientos and Second Corporal Eduardo Arenas Valdovinos also received this award, both of them students of the EUFOR18 course.
At the end of the ceremony, the Head of the Course, First Lieutenant Marine Jens Rosenkranz Romero, expressed a few words highlighting the importance of the mission that both contingents will fulfill on their corresponding mission areas, encouraging the students to apply the knowledge acquired on this program. |
